Better than a label

Why not just write your number on it?

A written number gives a finder one way to reach you, goes out of date when you change it, and tells you nothing about where your thing ended up. A TangoTag gives them the fastest way that suits them, and you can change what they see any time.

A typical label

  • One way to reach you
  • Out of date when your number changes
  • No idea where it was found

A TangoTag sticker

  • Call, text or a note, their pick
  • Change your number or hide it any time, no reprint
  • They can share exactly where they found it

Quick answers

Questions people ask first

Do I or the finder need an app?

No. The finder points their phone camera at the sticker and a page opens. No app, no account, no download. You don't need one either: alerts come by email, and finders can call or text you if you show your number.

What does the finder see about me?

Your first name if you set one ("You found something of Sarah's"), plus what you choose to show: your phone number as Call and Text buttons, your email, or neither. Never your address.

A phone number you give at checkout shows as Call and Text buttons, because a call is the fastest way to get your thing back. You can hide it, or show your email instead, any time with the code on your sheet.

Do lost-and-found stickers actually work?

They work when someone finds your thing and wants to give it back, which is the usual case for keys, wallets and bags left behind. What stops most returns is that the finder has no way to reach you. A sticker fixes that: one scan and they can call you, text you or leave a note.

It can't help if nobody finds your thing, or if the finder keeps it. It isn't a tracker.

Is this a tracker?

No. There's no GPS and no battery. It works when someone finds your thing, scans the sticker and decides to message you. They can share their location when they do, and you'll see it on a map.

How do I add or change my phone number or email?

Go to tangotag.com/activate and type the code from the dark label at the top of your sticker sheet (8 letters and numbers, like K7QP-3MXR). You can change the email alerts go to, the phone finders can call or text, the name they see, and what they can see. It applies to every sticker on that sheet right away.

There's no account or password. The code is the key, so keep it private.

All questions

What are lost-and-found stickers?

Lost-and-found stickers (also sold as lost-and-found tags, labels or "if found" stickers) are small stickers you put on things you might lose, so whoever finds one can reach you. The old kind has your name and number printed on it. A TangoTag has a QR code instead: the finder scans it with their phone camera and can call you, text you or leave a note, and you choose what they see. Nothing personal is printed on the sticker, and you can change your details any time without reprinting.
